Threads is approaching 100M sign-ups in less than a week. Historical and exceptional!!

Here is the catch that nobody is talking about:

THE FEDIVERSE!!

When you sign up to Threads it mentions that future versions of Threads will work with “The Fediverse”, a new type of social media network that allows people to follow and interact with each other on different platforms. And when you go to the Learn More link, it tells you about the fediverse including the vision of enabling users to communicate with people on other fediverse platforms that they do not own or control, and that “the servers on the fediverse are distributed and decentralized.”

In my opinion, Meta responded to the resistance to change towards a highly beneficial evolution of the internet (AKA its Metaverse project) in an extremely smart way, by building an onramp towards web3, getting traction with a familiar social media platform and then gradually shifting towards a distributed and decentralized ecosystem. The first step has proven an overwhelming success.

This is the same approach I have been calling the Web 3 community to follow since we started Duverse, and that is exactly what we are doing at Duverse with the exception that we cannot get 100M sign-ups in less than a week :), but we can still do a lot.
